Exploring Opportunities with Window's Vista

Windows Speech Recognition: Window's speech recognition software adapts to the voice and speaking style of the user with each use, making it more personalizes every time the user gets on their computer. This software was designed for people who wish to dramatically reduce their use of the keyboard and mouse. The computer can follow personalized commands or "say what you see" commands, which would mean that if you wanted to open a file, the individual must simply say "open file" and then state the specific file that they desire to view.

Another very helpful tool that is offered with he this speech recognition software is a "How do I" help tool; this means that you can ask the computer if you don't know how to perform a certain task and the computer will help you. While this specific help tool is only available in the English language, the rest of the speech recognition software is available in many other languages. This software also offers a tutorial to help users get started, which can be very helpful if you are unfamiliar with this new technology.

Perhaps the most valuable aspect of the speech recognition software, at least for me personally, is that you can dictate e-mails and other documents. Which means if you want to correct your wording all you have to do is say that you want to correct... and state the selection that needs revision. Also, with this software there will be no more having to select the save option over and over while writing a paper. Instead, the user only has to command the computer to save, and it is done. This would be very helpful to young children, who often forget how to save or open files on a computer.
